Russia - Turkey Funeral Repatriation
Russia is Turkey's largest source of visitors, and there is a large Russian-speaking community living in Turkey. For the repatriation of Russian nationals who die in Turkey (known in Russian as 'gruz 200'), we handle the consular, embalming, coffin and airline procedures. We can correspond in Russian.
Process for this country
- The death certificate and the multilingual death certificate extract (Formule C) are issued; the transfer documents are obtained from the Consulate General of Russia.
- Embalming is performed, a sealed coffin is prepared and the air cargo booking is made.
- Details are shared with the funeral director or relative who will receive the deceased at the destination airport in Russia.
Documents
- The deceased's passport
- Death certificate and Formule C
- Embalming certificate, sealed coffin certificate, burial transit permit
- Consular transfer document
Points to note
A funeral director in the destination city may be needed for collection in Russia; we put you in touch with the firms we work with.
Flight options vary by city; on connecting flights the cold chain and document continuity are followed up.
The times given are typical ranges; they can change depending on how quickly the authorities, the airline and the consulate process each step. An autopsy, a judicial procedure or a public holiday will extend them.
