What happens
- We share the documents and flight plan with the funeral director in the country of departure.
- We follow up customs and cargo handling during the transhipment in Istanbul.
- If there is a wait between flights, the cold chain is maintained.
- We pass the air waybill and flight details to the funeral director in the destination country.
What we need from you
- Death certificate, embalming certificate and mortuary passport (laissez-passer) issued in the country of departure
- Consular documents meeting the entry requirements of the destination country
- Contact details of the funeral directors at departure and destination
How long it takes
Depends on the flight connection; transhipment formalities are usually completed within the same day.
The times given are typical ranges; they can change depending on how quickly the authorities, the airline and the consulate process each step. An autopsy, a judicial procedure or a public holiday will extend them.
Costs are usually covered by the family, an insurer or the funeral fund the deceased belonged to. We check the cover together in the first call; a written quote is free of charge.
