Netherlands - Turkey Funeral Repatriation
We bring the deceased to Turkey for burial for Turkish families living in the Netherlands, and repatriate residents of the Netherlands who die in Turkey. The funeral fund or insurer in the Netherlands usually carries out the transfer as far as Turkey; we take over the process from the airport.
Process for this country
- From the Netherlands to Turkey: flight and document details are exchanged with the funeral director or fund in the Netherlands; we receive the deceased in Istanbul, transfer them to the city and coordinate the burial.
- From Turkey to the Netherlands: the death certificate, the multilingual death certificate extract (Formule C), the embalming certificate and the burial transit permit are issued; a handover plan is agreed with the funeral director in the Netherlands.

Points to note
If there is a funeral fund membership, call the fund first; we handle the domestic transfer and burial that fall outside the cover.

The times given are typical ranges; they can change depending on how quickly the authorities, the airline and the consulate process each step. An autopsy, a judicial procedure or a public holiday will extend them.
