Kazakhstan - Turkey Funeral Repatriation
There is considerable travel between Kazakhstan and Turkey for trade, education, medical treatment and residence, and there is a Kazakh community living in Istanbul. We repatriate Kazakh nationals who die in Turkey to Almaty, Astana and other cities, and bring relatives who die in Kazakhstan back to Turkey. Communication is available in Turkish and Russian.
Process for this country
- The death certificate and the multilingual death certificate extract (Formule C) are issued; the Kazakh consulate's transfer documents are obtained.
- Ritual washing, shrouding and embalming are carried out; a sealed coffin is prepared.
- The deceased is sent by air cargo to Almaty or Astana; the relative or funeral director who will receive them at the destination airport is informed.

Points to note
There are direct flights from Istanbul to Almaty and Astana; for other cities, connecting options are considered.
A funeral director in the destination city may be needed for collection in Kazakhstan; we put you in touch with the funeral directors we work with.
The times given are typical ranges; they can change depending on how quickly the authorities, the airline and the consulate process each step. An autopsy, a judicial procedure or a public holiday will extend them.
